Flexidex
Database - stock control and accounting software for Antiquarians, second
hand book dealers, antique dealers and any collector.
Important: Make sure you close the Flexidex
program before you try to download it.
When you click on the link below, a window will open and you can click the save
button
It will ask you where to save the file to, you will have to look for your flexidex
directory on your c: drive and save the file there. (If your database
is in any other drive or directory please substitute).
As the program already exists you will be asked if you want to
overwrite it. And you can say yes
The program will then download and when finished it will be ready for use.
If you have any other computers using the program make sure you copy it onto
these machines, either using a floppy disk, zip disk or the network.
Some upgrades require you to modify other files associated with the program,
for details of these changes please refer to the summary of updates and bug

for the latest automatic upgrade program - this file is called upgrade.zip and
you should download it into the c:\flexidex directory.
Next you have to unzip the file and there is two probable methods
to do this:
1 - Winzip: if you have winzip you can find the file by opening
My Computer and then the C: drive and then the flexidex folder or directory
and you should see the upgrade.zip file as this is where you saved it.
Firstly you have to delete the upgrade.exe if it already exists in the flexidex
folder.
Then if you 2 click on the upgrade.zip file it should open the winzip program
and ask where you want to extract the files to - here you would select the c:\flexidex
directory. (If your database is in any other drive or directory please substitute).
You should now see the setup.exe program and you can 2 click on this icon to
install several files.
Then you should see the upgrade.exe file or icon and if you 2 click on this
and follow your nose all the files will be updated. Thats all folks.
2 - Pkunzip: this is the dos version of winzip and can be run
by going to start - programs - msdos prompt.
Then you change directory using
cd \flexidex
Then at the c:\flexidex prompt type
del upgrade.exe
This is to delete the previous upgrade program. Then type in
pkunzip upgrade.zip
Then type in
setup
this will start the setup program and just follow your nose to install all the
rest of the files.
Lastly the setup program will have created an upgrade.exe file so just type
in
upgrade
then you can type in exit to close the current dos window and you should be
ready to go.
File size is about 3.4 MBytes and should take about 30 mins
